It was a time to think. It was a time to listen. It was a time to
consider time how we live life in light of Biblical principles.
I, James Evans, just returned on Sunday from 5 days in the
Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness along the northern
border of Minnesota. I had the privilege to live life with
Roger and Mark from Louisville, KY and Kenneth from here
in Nashville. We paddled on 19 lakes, portaged 2.9 miles
(carried our gear between lakes), and fished a lot though
we didn’t catch many.
We saw 3 bald eagles, a moose, a mink, lots of loons, ducks and other birds. One day we had a little over an inch of
rain, and throughout the week there was one day that was in the lower 70’s and a couple of nights in the high 30’s.
Nature is not always ‘nice’. There is also work to do. But the beauty of the place, the camaraderie of men and the
opportunity to step away from normal life makes it so very valuable.
It’s the beauty of God’s work in my own life through these men. It’s the beauty of our journey to a quiet place to hear
God speak; through His Word, through other men, through creation, through the words of Balancing Life’s Demands
which we all read prior to the trip.
For those who go with us in prayer, I am thankful. Maybe you’ll take a journey too sometime.
