BENCHMARK Adventure Ministries, Inc. was formed in March 1993. On January 10, 1994 the BENCHMARK
Board of Directors held its first meeting. Though family members function as corporate officers to assist in the
governing of this not-for-profit ministry, there is always a voting majority of non-family members. This Board of
Directors governs the ministry providing advice, encouragement and accountability.
Barbara Evans
is Assistant Professor and OB instructor for 1st year ASN nursing students at Aquinas College.
She began as a nurse at Baptist Hospital in January 1992 after completing a MSN at Vanderbilt University. Since
November 1992 she has worked as a Labor & Delivery Nurse at Baptist, currently working on an “as needed“ basis.
Barbara, a mother of four children, provides knowledge related to health and safety issues and is the corporation
secretary for BENCHMARK Adventure Ministries, Inc.
Dean Jones
is Conference and Meetings Manager for Collinson Publishing and Rejuvenate Marketplace,
a conference for faith-based event planners. Dean is a regular columnist for Rejuvenate magazine. He also
serves as Conference Manager for the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation. He operates Jones
Event Services, where he provides consulting, planning and logistical support to non-profit, association and
corporate events, including organizations such as Microsoft, CPTA and Red Prairie.
Keith Fletcher,
is pastor of First Free Will Baptist Church in Johnston City, Illinois. He chairs the FWB Media
Commission and serves as secretary of the Illinois FWB Mission Board and dean of the Institute for Christian
Education (Southern Illinois Training Center). Keith is president of his local ministerial alliance and vice-president
of the city plan commission. Prior to becoming a full-time pastor, Keith worked at Randall House Publications
as editor-in-chief and digital director a total of 14 years.
Vicky P. Smith’s
primary role is one of encouragement. She travels leading worship for various ministries,
as well as playing keyboard for her local congregation’s praise band. As a recording artist, Vicky loves to
sing the Word and encourage the Body of Christ, whether it is in Nashville, Australia, or China. Vicky also
works in healthcare management. Her supporting husband, Nowell, and their son Dana both work in finance
management.
Jason King
is a senior vice president for SunTrust Bank in Memphis where he oversees service and sales
operations for 40 branch locations. Jason earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Free
Will Baptist Bible College, and then completed the MBA program at Belmont University in 2008. He and his
family attend Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis. Jason also serves on the boards of the Memphis Zoo
and Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South.
Randy Harmon
is co-owner of Wings of Eagles School of Flight and owner of Harmony Air, an aircraft
charter company in Nashville. After retiring from the United States Air Force in 1996, he developed and then
sold a successful computer software company. Married since 1980, Randy enjoys time with his wife and
children as well as reading, fishing and the outdoors. He is active in the children’s ministry of Brentwood
United Methodist Church.
Ellen Hingst
is currently a Training Manager at Tractor Supply Company where she focuses training &
development efforts on the home office team in Brentwood. Previously, she was the Director of Education
at the Center for Nonprofit Management as well as an ESL instructor. She has been involved in children’s
ministry for too many years to count.
