BENCHMARK is a vital asset to the training for the high
school and college students that Free Will Baptist International
Mission sends out on short-term missions trips!
Every summer, FWBIM sends out dozens of students from
all over America, as well as several from other countries.
Some of these students go out with a team, others with
another student, and some by themselves. We consider
the training, preparation, and re-entry for these students
just as important as the trip itself. BENCHMARK helps to
develop the groups into a team, and prepares the individuals
to work with other people or by themselves.
BENCHMARK helps take them out of their comfort zone.

BENCHMARK helps stretch each student and leader to think about how they act and react under extreme circumstances.
This is helpful to know before heading out to a foreign field and having to deal with culture shock, an
unknown language, and the other things that come with a short-term experience.
BENCHMARK also helps with re-entry. As the need for preparation before going on a short term trip is obvious to
most people, the need for help with re-entry may not be as obvious to all, but I would not send a team out without
giving them the opportunity to share and talk through what they experienced once they are back. I worked with
FWBIM planning trips for students for 3 years and I would not have sent any team out without the training BENCHMARK
administered!
