Serving Churches

Following Christ is an adventure. Almost all of us involved in that adventure could benefit from cultivating unity, connection and community with an emphasis on being the church.

BENCHMARK serves churches by helping them achieve their goals consistent with the character of Christ.

Whether we are working with a youth group, father / son retreat, men’s retreat, lay leadership development, a group of pastors, or staff members, our goal is to help you become a more effective part of what God is doing in the world. BENCHMARK Adventure Ministries designs discipleship experiences for spiritual growth and leadership development.

These adventures, where interaction and reflection are valued, help participants examine their relationship with others, their surroundings, as well as their relationship with God.  You may move from your comfort zone or learn about things that have hindered relationships. You may need to examine an attitude or find progress you should be celebrating. It may mean that you step up to say ‘no’, when others are saying ‘yes’. Or to say ‘yes we can’, when others are thinking ‘no we can’t’.

Mission Trip Preparation and Post Trip Debriefing

Let’s work together to leverage a huge opportunity for learning and growth for those participating in mission and service.

Preparation

Specialized team building for mission preparation and service learning including intense group preparation activities assisting participants in:

  • Recognizing their unique personal and group strengths and weaknesses
  • Learning more about how an effective team functions
  • Developing an understanding of cultural differences before arriving on the field, cultivating group cohesion and unity of purpose
  • Fostering communication and listening skills
  • Training to evaluate and learn from their cross cultural experience

Post-trip Debriefing

Purposeful reflection afterwards is critical. Your team members will be guided toward positive life change in a deliberate way helping participants to:

  • Clarify cultural misunderstandings
  • Assist with the normal comparisons between cultures
  • Transferring the lessons learned cross culturally to every day life
  • Begin exploring cultural interpretations of biblical Christianity

Testimonials

“Thank you for your wonderful leadership of our group building activities last Saturday.  I was very impressed with your team and with their ability to help guide the kids and adults through the challenges they offered. …Thank you so much again for all your help in making our retreat so wonderful for these kids!”
Maggie Jarrell, Director of Highway 56, Brentwood United Methodist Church

Everyone should partner with BENCHMARK! We went on a 5-day trip with 29 MS, HS, and adult leaders in West Virginia and they did an excellent job supporting our ministry and taking care of us! BENCHMARK was easy to work with and provided our ministry with a quality wilderness experience that was both fun and challenging. BENCHMARK staff was top-notch. They were professional, experienced, and interacted well with our students. It was a great experience for our group and we would happily do it again! Thanks BENCHMARK!”
Pete Johnson, former youth pastor, current TEAM missionary
